Studio

We make games set in Joseon-era Korea and the world around it. Design, art, and code are all handled by one person.

The name

Why haechi

The haechi is a mythical beast said to tell right from wrong. In a trial, it is said to gore whichever side is lying.

The reason for the name is simple: a game is only fun when its rules are clear. What wins, what loses, and why should all be visible to the player. We try never to tip a match with hidden numbers.

How we work

This is how we build

Numbers go in a document first

The damage on a single card, the growth curve of a single beast — all of it is designed before work starts. If the text on screen and the actual behaviour disagree, we treat that as a bug.

Fixes ship the same day

Working alone means there are no meetings in the way. When a problem turns up, it is fixed and shipped that day. Live games update themselves the moment you open them, with no re-download.

We only claim what actually works

If something is still in progress, we say so. That goes for the game pages here too — where no release date has been set, we write exactly that.

We do not build and walk away. You can read exactly what changed.

Whenever something new goes into a game, these figures are updated with it.

Contact

If something is wrong

Send it through contact. You will need to sign in with Google once — that is there to keep spam out. A person reads every message and replies by email, so it can take a few days.

For an error inside a game, the in-game “Report a bug” is better. It carries the screen you were on, what you were doing, and the game state — which usually finds things that are hard to describe in words.
